Visitation will be held Sunday, January 19 from 6pm to 8pm at Adams Funeral Home with recitation of the Holy Rosary to begin at 7pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, January 20 at 10am at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with Father John Kelley officiating. She will be laid to rest next to her beloved Bill at Hillcrest Cemetery.
Nancy was born July 18, 1930 in Weslaco, Texas to parents Arthur and Louise Johnston and was baptized Laura Nan Johnston on August 3, 1930. She attended school in Seguin, Texas and graduated from Seguin High School. On December 27, 1952 she married the love of her life William (Bill) Raymond Marek at St. James Church in Seguin. She and Bill moved to Marlin and here they raised their two sons, Larry and Craig. She and Bill remained married until his passing in 1988.
Nancy worked at Torbett-Hutchings-Smith Clinic (what is now Falls Community Hospital) in Marlin for over 33 years, working her way up from a book keeper to head accountant. She was a faithful member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church for many years and was a member of the PCCW (Parish Council of Catholic Women). She loved to garden and was a part of the Marlin Garden Club. Nancy also quite often attended and very much enjoyed events held at the Allen House.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bill; a brother and a sister.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory her sons, Craig Marek and Larry Marek and his wife Mary as well as her 3 grandchildren, Jessica, Katherine and Sarah.
If desired, memorial contributions in her name may be made to St. Joseph’s Catholic Church of Marlin.
