

Nellie Dean was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She was known for her warm heart, kind spirit, and unwavering faith. Born in the small town of Heber Springs, Arkansas, to William & Zealie Badders, Nellie carried the values of family, love, and service throughout her life. Nellie met her husband, Clifford (Buddy) Krumnow at a baseball game in Kosse, and married in 1951 and started a family later that year.
Throughout her years, Nellie Dean was a source of strength and inspiration to those around her. She dedicated herself to her family, nurturing with patience and compassion. Her love for life was evident in her laughter, her caring nature, and her devotion to her loved ones.
She worked in the Fort Bend school food service for twenty years. She was a long-time member of the Second Baptist Church of Katy and was a devoted member of the senior Sunday school class.
She is survived by her children, daughters Virginia Krumnow of Marlin, Texas, Deborah Krumnow of Coldspring, Texas, Sharon Minks of Livingston, Texas, and son Timothy Krumnow of Houston, Texas. Her grandchildren Jody Krumnow and wife Amanda of Marlin, Texas, Jesse James of Livingston, Texas, Mark Krumnow and wife Ashley of Georgetown, Texas, Austin James and wife Michelle of Temecula, California, and Noah Krumnow of Houston, Texas. Her great-grandchildren Kyle, James, and William Krumnow of Marlin, Texas, Ava Krumnow, Tristian Martinez, and Cameron Martinez all of Georgetown, Texas, and Liam, Aiden, and Haley James of Temecula, California. Nellie Dean was preceded in death by her parents, son Rodney Krumnow of Marlin, and her husband, Clifford (Buddy) Krumnow.
A visitation will be at 1:00 p.m. on June 4, 2025, with a service to honor Nellie Dean’s life at Adams Funeral Home in Marlin, Texas, at 2:00 p.m., with The Reverend William Wright officiating. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery. The family invites friends and loved ones to join in celebrating her life and the legacy she leaves behind.
Pallbearers include her grandsons, Jody Krumnow, Mark Krumnow, Austin James, Jesse James and Tim Krumnow for Noah.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude in her memory.
Nellie Dean’s gentle spirit and loving heart will be forever cherished by all who knew her. Her legacy of love and kindness will continue to inspire us all.
