Romana was born July 6, 1923, in Paige, Texas
to Pedro and Luisa Castro.
Romana married the love of her life Lucio Moreno Sr., on January 2, 1949. She was a loving, caring, generous Housewife. When you saw her you would see the beautiful smile she carried on her face, a smile one will always remember. Romana loved her family very much, made sure each and every one of them was well taken care of and had what they needed, and boy did she make the BEST homemade tortillas. She wasn’t only a Mom and Grandma to her immediate family but also to many family friends as she would open her home and lend a helping hand to almost anyone. She loved having her family all together for the holidays and if you passed by her home you would more than likely see her sitting on her front porch.
Romana was a very strong lady, the most common phrase we would hear was, “She is such a strong & loving person.” This was also heard numerous times as she spent her last days in the hospital. A woman of 91 years to do things on her own was pretty amazing to witness. She would turn herself, walk on her own, bath herself and do so much more. Her nurses were all shocked as they had never seen someone this old do for themselves. Our Queen was very strong to have raised such a huge loving and caring family not only her children & grandchildren but also her great-grandchildren. NOT because she had to but because of the love she had for her family. It was nothing to her to have a ton of noisy kids at her house - the noise didn’t bother her a bit. If you stopped by to visit whether you or family or just a family friend she would make sure everyone ate before they left.
Our Angel, Our Queen, the Rock of our Family was preceded in death by her son, Alberto Moreno and daughter, Dora Fearing.
