November 19, 1956August 5, 2019

Thomas Jackson, known to everyone as Tommy or T.J., was born November 19, 1956 in Marlin, TX to Billie and Irene Jackson. Growing up he was an athlete participating in football, basketball, baseball, golf, and track where he still has the record for most medals in the hurdles at Marlin High School. He also went on to run hurdles at Angelo State University. Tommy was an avid golfer and Texas Rangers fan, he and his son Tyler went to numerous games and enjoyed many more on tv over the years.

Tommy married Madeline Oltorf on September 15, 1990. They gave birth to their only child and son Tyler on October 18, 1991. He always said his proudest moment was when his son was born. He was involved in every event Tyler participated in and even helped coach his little league team where some people refer to him as “Coach.”

His wife Madeline said his most endearing quality was how he loved his dogs Rochelle, Slinky, & Charlotte like family.

He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Madeline; son Tyler and wife Bianca; his mother Irene; his sister’s Beverly & Linda and husband Charles; his nieces Mary Katherine Hopkins & Amanda Doering, his nephews Chris Hopkins, Scott Drake & Jeffrey Drake; his granddaughters Aaliyah and Alexandria

I’m so sorry to hear of Tommy’s passing. He was such a sweet guy and had a great heart. When we were in college, he would drive through Brownwood and pick me up at Howard Payne and we would head home to Marlin. He always made a point to call and see if I needed a ride home!! Many other memories too from church Sunday school and vbs and school! May you all fall Nd peace in God’s promises that we will see him again!

I played a Friday night scramble w him and some other guys, I was the only girl. That day I happened to be playing descent, and the first few holes I hit the ball good. I was riding w him, and decided to turn the music on, on my phone. I looked at him and asked him, if it was ok that I turned the music on, he looked at me and said, girl as long as you keep hitting the ball like you are, you can play whatever music you want. Even the next hole, he clapped for me. At the time I wasn't very good at playing golf, and so for me, that was a compliment, and it meant more to me then he will ever know. It's something that I will always cherish. Sending prayers for the family n friend's.
