Aleksandra “Babi” Ring, entered glory with her Lord and Savior on February 8, 2020, at the age of 93, after a very aggressive battle with Alzheimer’s. A Holocaust survivor, Aleksandra came to the United States with her then-husband, Leszek, in the early 1950s, with both becoming naturalized citizens.
Living most of her life in Maryland, Aleksandra moved in with her daughter Lucy in early 2010 and lived her last 9 years in southern Louisiana. Shortly after moving in with Lucy and her family, Aleksandra, at the age of 83, gave her life to the Lord Jesus Christ, accepting Him as her personal Savior. Almost to her death, she witnessed to everyone who would listen about her Jesus. She also made several appearances in Louisiana public schools, giving her Holocaust testimony, and witnessing of the saving power of Jesus, laying-hands and praying without hindrance. (Who in their right mind would tell a 90 y/o woman she couldn’t pray in a public school?)
She was known to everyone as “Babi” (the Polish equivalent of “granny”), becoming that to all who knew her. A fixture in church, as soon as someone entered, she was quick to greet them and give testimony. It was not surprising to see her at the altar praying during worship. More than anyone, she loved the Lord and looked forward to seeing Him face-to-face. She did so quietly, out of her own bed.
Aleksandra is survived by her two daughters: Irene Mann and husband Paul, and Lucy Croghan and husband Samuel. Surviving grandchildren include Dennis Alvez, with his children and grandchildren, as well as Joshuah Croghan and wife Alisha, with their daughters, and Meghan Schimke and husband Johnathon, with their daughter. There is also Lilly … the pitbull. Aleksandra was predeceased by one granddaughter, Annette, who had children and grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to CrossLife Fellowship Church in Aleksandra's honor.
A memorial service will be held at Aleksandra’s home church.
