Amelia Marie Young

Amelia Marie Evans Young, age 58 was born December 27, 1966, to Wilhelmina Harris-Fleming and the late Harold Evans. Surrounded by the love of her family, Amelia peacefully transitioned from this life on July 14, 2025, at 7:15 am in her sister’s home in Marrero, Louisiana

Amelia received her education in the New Orleans Public School System, and she graduated from Joseph S. Clark Preparatory High School. She worked faithfully for twelve years at Wags Food and Culture restaurant in Marrero, Louisiana where she was known for her warm spirit and dedication, until her health failed.

Amelia is preceded in death by her father Harold Evans and her beloved son Lloyd Evans.

Left to cherish fond memories are her loving husband, Gregory Young of Bay St Louis; five sons, Roger Evans, Jamaruis Varnado, William Bunns, Gregory Young Jr., and Jeremiah Young. five daughters: Jade Davis (Kolby), Rosemary Young, Angelica Young, Shaneras Smith, and Azziah Kirsch – all of New Orleans, LA; her mother Wilhelmina Harris-Fleming, two sisters Lisa Calice (Sherman) and Dakota Hawkins (Trevor) of New Orleans, LA; a brother Harold Evans Jr. of Lacomb, LA; her mother-In-law Freddie Young, two sisters-in-law: Loretta Laurant and Cheryl Fair of Lacomb, Louisiana and Cheryl Fair of Mandeville, Louisiana; sixteen grandchildren; and a host of other family members and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, August 3, 2025 at 2:00 PM at 4270 E. Ames Blvd, Marrero, Louisiana 70072
