Amy Lynn Rea, 28, of Gretna, Louisiana, passed away on September 7, 2022, after an unexpected heart complication. Amy’s friends and family are woefully saddened by this unexpected loss. Amy was born on January 31, 1994, to her loving parents, Edward “Eddie” Rea and Belinda Englebracht Rea in her hometown of Gretna. After graduating from Thomas Jefferson High School in 2012, Amy attended the University of New Orleans where she achieved bachelor’s degrees in Psychology and Accounting. Upon graduation Amy began working with Postlethwaite & Netterville where she advanced in her career from intern to Senior Auditor. She eventually made a move to Legier & Company where she became a Forensic Accountant. Away from the accounting world Amy was an artistic soul who loved to travel. She’s been all over the world, including Iceland, Ireland, Italy and Germany. She had plans to visit Egypt with her father, which was her life long dream. When she wasn’t traveling, you could find her reading comic books, drawing in her sketch book, watching Grey’s Anatomy or doting on her toy poodle, Lucy. Amy had many loving friends. She was warm, gentle, and kind, but also had a feisty side to her. She loved to laugh and be around people who made her happy. Her family is grateful for her dearest friends Dom Vancourt, Kara Hapgood, and Cynthia Bankston.
Amy was predeceased by her grandfather Frank Englebracht and her aunt Donna Rea. She is survived by her grandparents, Ernest Rea, Mary Rea and Linda Englebracht, her parents, Eddie Rea and Belinda Rea, her brother, Christopher Rea (Amber), her only nephew, Forrest Rea, her aunts and uncles, Joy Englebracht, Kristin Englebracht Harris, Daniel Rea (Mitzi) and Michael Rea (Tansy) as well as numerous cousins.
Amy will be cremated, and her ashes will be placed into a fabulous rainbow urn. A visitation will be held on September 24th from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at Westside/Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 5101 Westbank Expressway in Marrero followed by a Remembrance Service where those who loved Amy will have a chance to share stories and memories about her. The committal service will immediately follow at Hook & Ladder Cemetery in Gretna. Amy is missed greatly. This world will never be the same for those who knew and loved her.
