

Elizabeth Sale Ferguson, a native of Lakeland, Florida, and a longtime resident of Marrero, passed away on Wednesday, October 15, 2014 at the age of 92. Beloved wife of the late John Randolph Ferguson for over 52 years. Mother of Ardath Youngblood of Clinton, New Jersey, Becky Freed (Les) of Sarasota, Florida, and John Ferguson (Gail) of Marrero, Louisiana. Grandmother of Emily Youngblood, Joel Youngblood, Aaron Freed, Rickie Benoit, and Jonie Fabre. Great grandmother of Rickie Benoit III, Rayon Benoit, Jade Fabre, and Jason Fabre II. She is also survived by Ray and Virginia Romagosse II, brother of Gail Ferguson. She graduated from Florida State Women’s College in 1944, and worked for the War Department in the Cartography Department during WWII. After the war, she worked as a social worker with challenged children. After the birth of her children, she was a stay at home mother, but continued to volunteer to help children who were struggling. After retirement, she and her husband loved traveling together, and visited all 50 states. She was active in the Ochsner Clinic Mall Walkers at Oakwood Mall.
A Memorial Service will be held in the Chapel of Westside Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 5101 Westbank Expressway, on Saturday, December 6, 2014 at 2:00 PM. Visitation will begin at 1:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations to Guardian Hospice. Express condolences at www.westsideleitzeagan.com.
