It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of Betty M. Umbach, our loving and devoted mother and grandmother. Betty, 82 years old was a lifelong resident of Westwego. She was a dedicated mother first and foremost, she treasured her children and grandchildren and embraced every moment with them. She is survived by her three sons, Warren III (Heidi), Chad (Lisa) and Fred (Tabatha) and 9 grandchildren. She is also survived by 2 siblings, Richard Marcomb and Loretta Ledet, and also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews, many friends and ex-coworkers. She is preceded in death by her parents Martin and Anna Ronquille Marcomb, and her sister Brenda Cardinal.

Betty had a sly comical personality and loved making people laugh with short, quick remarks that you would rarely see coming. Betty graduated from West Jefferson High School and worked as a secretary for several companies until retirement. After retirement, Betty went back to work Part Time, sitting for special needs children. She was a natural at sitting with the children, her mother first mindset shined brightly and the job rewarded her, she was a mother again. Betty was one of the nicest yet toughest person anyone could have the pleasure of knowing.

Family and friends are invited to attend the funeral in the Chapel of Westside Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 5101 Westbank Expressway, on Thursday, September 17, 2020 at 11:00 AM. Visitation will begin at 9:00 AM. Interment will be in Gate of Heaven Mausoleum at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Cemetery.
