Blake Thomas Hunter, a native of Marrero, Louisiana, passed away on Saturday, November 1, 2025 at the age of 41. He was born on April 10, 1984 to Thomas M. and Joy F. Hunter. Loving father of Ella Elizabeth and Kenzie Lynn Hunter. Partner of Pamela Jo Percle Brady. Loving and joking brother of Dalton M. Hunter (Ashley) and Ariel H. Steib (Michael, Jr.). Loving uncle of Scarlett Jo Hunter (Godchild) and Caroline Anne Steib. Blake is also survived by other extended family and dear friends.
Blake was proceeded in death by his grandparents, Francis and Catherine Hunter and Floyd and Ruth Faucha.
Blake was the former Fire Chief and life member of the Marrero-Estelle Fire Station — or as he fondly called it, the “Fire House.” He dedicated nearly 30 years of his life to serving his community, beginning around the age of 11 when he started helping out at the local park and fire station. From his early days as a Junior Firefighter, Blake climbed the ranks through hard work and dedication, ultimately earning the title of Chief.
A brilliant, self-taught tech guru and master of many trades, Blake could fix or build just about anything — electrical, mechanical, or otherwise. He took great pride in his work with Mardi Gras floats, contributing his skills in construction, mechanics, and lighting to bring joy to countless parades.
Blake was also a gifted cook, famous among family and friends for his dark roux gumbo, jambalaya, corn bisque soup, and legendary seafood boils. His kitchen was always filled with laughter, stories, and the smell of something delicious on the stove.
Above all, Blake will be remembered for his humor, generosity, and love for family. He was always joking and clowning around — especially with his daughters and nieces — bringing warmth and laughter wherever he went.
Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation for Blake on Tuesday, November 11, 2025 beginning at 9:00 AM at Immaculate Conception Church, 4401 7th St, in Marrero. Funeral Mass will begin at 11:00 AM and burial will immediately follow at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Cemetery in Westwego.
In lieu of flowers, please have Mass intentions at your church of preference.
