Carl John “Butch” Peterson a native of Gloversville, NY and a 60-year resident of Grenta, LA earned his wings March 3, 2021 at the age of 79 of cancer. He is survived by his loving wife Patricia Benoit Peterson of 59 years, his daughters Dawn Peterson (Eddie) and Bridget Peterson, his grandsons Jon Michael Hunt (Kayla), Elric Sullivan, his sister Charleste Bladsacker Gondrella (Eric), and nieces and nephew. He is preceded in death by his mother Helen Peterson Bladsacker, stepfather Charles Bladsacker, mother-in-law Lillian Benoit, father-in-law Louis Benoit, brother-in-law Brian Benoit, sister Charlene Bladsacker, and brother Charles Bladsacker. He served his country in the Army National Guard. Butch believed in hard work and dedication to his job. He taught and instilled his strong work ethic into both of his daughters, which they were proud to pass on to their sons. He worked for Standard Supply Co. for 43 years and only missed one day of work. Butch finished out his career with Hibernia National Bank until his retirement. Butch's love and passion of playing baseball was first shared with his daughters and then shared with his grandson Jon. He never missed a game. Butch was the protector of his family; he showed his girls how to stand up for themselves and wanted to make sure they could always take care of themselves for the day he could no longer do it. His family was the most important thing to him, he never asked for anything and gave his all to his family. We will all have fond memories of his BBQ’s on Sundays that was shared with family and friends, fixing breakfast for his daughters and friends after a late night, having a cup of coffee in the morning with a cigarette, and having a couple of beers while cutting the grass. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. A special thanks to the Doctors and Nurses of Ochsner Westbank especially Jessica and Michael in the ICU department.
A Memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 20th, 2021 at 1:00PM in the chapel of Westside/Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 5101 Westbank Expressway in Marrero, Louisiana. A visitation will begin at 11:00AM and continue until the service begins. Please express you condolences and share memories with the family at www.westsideleitzeagan.com.
