Carlos James Perez Sr.

Carlos James Perez, Sr. entered peacefully into heaven on Friday, February 2, 2018, surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his devoted wife, Rosalita “Rose” Plaisance of 57 years. A loving father of Julie Perez Limoges (Lee), Donna Perez Besson (Michael), Connie Perez Cathledge (Tommy), Susan Perez Thatcher (Ron), Jason Carlos Perez (Karen Barrilleaux) and Carlos “Carlie” Perez, Jr. (Candy Bass Perez). A proud grandfather of Brian Limoges (Michele), Jennifer Besson Barattini (Cory), James Besson (Suzanne Liuzza), Lacey Tregembo, Jack Cathledge (Christina Cade), Emily Thatcher Rumney (Brent), Jason Perez, Jr., Jared Perez and a great grandfather of Penelope Cathledge, Violet Cathledge and Caleb Barattini. Son of the late Adelina “Ni Nit” Bridgette Matherne Perez and Randolph “Butte” Perez. Brother of Brenda Perez Comardelle (the late Michael), Nancy Perez-St. Romain (John), Cheryl Perez Cormier (the late Jimmy) and preceded in death by his sisters; Dorothy Perez Chaisson (the late Lawrence), Carolyn Perez Camardelle (the late Archie) and Janet Perez. He is also survived by numerous loving nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends who will miss him as well. Age 74, a native of New Orleans, LA and a lifelong resident of Westwego, LA. Carlos retired from Avondale Shipyard as a Manager of their Gas Free Plant for 50 years. Upon retirement he spent his time trawling, fishing, time on his property in Lafitte (God’s Land), owned apartments, and mostly spending time with his children, grandchildren and friends. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Mass at Westside Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 5101 Westbank Expy., Marrero, LA on Wednesday, February 7, 2018 at 11:00 AM. Visitation on Tuesday, February 6, 2018 from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM and on Wednesday 9:00 AM until Mass time. Interment following in Our Lady of Prompt Succor Cemetery, Westwego, LA.
