

Chimene Catherine Pitre, of Gretna, Louisiana passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loved ones on November 8, 2025 at the age of 62. Chimene was the beloved daughter of Joan Dunne Pitre and the late Leon Pitre, Jr.; Granddaughter of the late Michael and Dora Dunne and the late Leon Pitre, Sr. and Emily Pitre; Sister of Michelle (Andrew) Ryals and the late David Leon Pitre; and Aunt to Drew (Louise) Ryals, Abi Ryals, and the late Aaron Ryals; Godmother to Amy Hall.
Chimene graduated from Archbishop Blenk High School in 1981, she went on to study radiologic technology at Charity Hospital of New Orleans; she earned a Bachelor of Science, Master of Science and Master of Health Services Administration at the University of Saint Francis in Joliet, Illinois. Chimene had a successful 40-year career working in the New Orleans area and in Florida at various hospitals, clinics, and a university.
In 2004 she became a clinical instructor and later became the program director for the radiologic technology program at Ochsner - Holy Cross School of Radiologic Technology and then at the University of Holy Cross until her retirement in 2024.
Chimene was a member of the Louisiana Society of Radiologic Technologists and the American Society of Radiologic Technologists.
Chimene will be remembered by her family, friends, and colleagues for her love of teaching, travel, dogs, and listening to live music. She found joy in seeing her students flourish and go on to have successful careers. She was also an avid Saints fan. Chimene was an accomplished seamstress and an amazing cross stitcher.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, November 14, 2025 in the chapel of Westside/Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 5101 Westbank Expressway in Marrero, Louisiana. A visitation will begin at 9:00 AM and continue until the Mass time. Interment will remain private.
