Corinna, (“Rina”) was born on November 25, 1940, in New Orleans to Robert Dewey Webb and Corinne Roesch, who both worked for the United Fruit Company in tropical countries. Rina’s first home was Santa Marta, Colombia, followed by Guatemala, El Salvador, possibly Nicaragua, and for the longest period, La Lima, Honduras. Later, the family moved to Banes, Cuba. While a boarding student at Ursuline Academy, Rina attended the St. Charles Avenue Presbyterian Church; she graduated in 1958 as a Merrimac. She was also a graduate of Newcomb College.
Rina had a son, Michael Smith, with her first husband Rick. They later divorced, and for several years, Rina was a single Mom, working full time at Immaculata High School, and raising her son, sending him to elementary schools Immaculate Conception, St. Andrew’s Episcopal School, and Gretna Park Elementary. Rina served as a den mother in Michael’s Cub Scout pack. Her son marvels at how she was able to do it all. She made sure he attended Sunday School each week and encouraged his faith in Jesus Christ. She also encouraged him in his acting, with Mike and her traveling out of state to watch him perform.
Rina was a woman of faith and grew in her faith in Jesus Christ throughout her life, regularly attending St. Charles Avenue Presbyterian Church, Unity Temple, and Redeemer Presbyterian Church in New Orleans, as well as the Catholic services at her nursing home.
Over the years, Rina taught English and Spanish at Carrollton Presbyterian School, Prytania Private School, Newman School, River Oaks Academy, and Immaculata High School in Marrero. She substituted at John Ehret High. At Immaculata, Rina met a witty math teacher named Michael Biondolillo, who would later become her husband after his military service. Mike and Rina were married for over 51 years.
Rina was deeply loved by her husband Mike. Throughout their marriage, Mike always looked forward to coming home to Rina and to whatever delicious meal she was preparing. Mike and Rina enjoyed visiting local restaurants and making a few road trips around the country to visit family. They enjoyed being together at home. In Rina’s last years, Mike devotedly visited her daily at her nursing home.
Rina loved animals. Over the years she had many pets -- a little pisote in La Lima, Honduras, and with Mike, canines (Rusty, Buffy, Mandy, and Snowball) and felines (Handsome and Sweetie). Rina also loved beautiful music -- from Latin dance music to classical music, to simply beautiful songbirds. She also loved to cook, and our home was often permeated by the aroma of her culinary creations.
None ever loved their parents more than Rina loved her parents. And now, she is reunited with them and her sister, Roberta Marie “Bobbie” (Beer), and brother, John Frederick “Jack” Webb.
Rina is survived by her devoted husband Mike Biondolillo, her grateful son Michael Smith, sister-in-law Mary Webb, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Bob and Ann Westerlund, many cousins in Canada, and 16 nieces and nephews and their families.
