Born on September 8, 2023, Cyrus was a bright and beautiful light in the lives of everyone who knew him. Though his time here was far too short, the joy, strength, and love he brought into this world will live on forever in the hearts of all who loved him.
Cyrus was born with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome (HLHS) and, from the very beginning, showed incredible courage and resilience. In his first year, he bravely endured two open-heart surgeries and continued to thrive, touching countless lives with his sweet spirit and infectious smile. Despite every obstacle, Cyrus faced life with determination, happiness, and love.
He adored playing with other children and had a personality that naturally drew people to him. Cyrus especially loved his McDonald’s Happy Meal—chicken nuggets and fries—which always brought him comfort and a smile. He was full of curiosity, laughter, and affection, bringing immeasurable joy to those around him each day.
One of the greatest joys in Cyrus’s life was preparing to become a big brother. His family finds comfort in knowing how excited he was to welcome his baby sister into the world.
Cyrus is survived by his loving mother, Shelby LeBlanc Crawford; his devoted father, Devin Paul Crawford; his unborn baby sister, Evangeline Cyrus Crawford; maternal grandparents Julie Gautreaux LeBlanc (“MawMaw”) and Steven LeBlanc; paternal grandmother Elizabeth Seither Blanchard (“Gigi”) and step-grandfather George J. Blanchard III ; and paternal grandfather David Paul Crawford. He is also survived by his great-grandmother, Natalie LeBlanc; his uncles Corey LeBlanc (Tong), Brandon Crawford, Jacob Blanchard, and Dino Stevenson; and his aunt Ashley Plasiance (David), along with many extended family members and loved ones who cherished him deeply.
He is preceded in death by his Great-Grandparents, Ray LeBlanc, Ray & Eva Gautreaux, William & Ruth Seither, and Daniel & Viola Crawford.
The family extends their deepest gratitude to Dr. Powell and the incredible staff at Ochsner Hospital for their compassion, care, and tireless efforts in fighting for Cyrus.
Though Cyrus’s life was brief, his impact was immeasurable. He taught everyone around him the meaning of true strength, courage, and unconditional love. He will forever be deeply loved, profoundly missed, and eternally remembered.
