

Daniel "Danny" Joseph Ramagos passed away on Friday, December 23, 2022 at the age of 75. He was born in New Orleans, Louisiana on April 1, 1947 and was a resident of Marrero, Louisiana. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Cheryl Breaux Ramagos and is the proud father of David Paul Ramagos (Donna) and Nikki Renee Ramagos. He was affectionately known as GrandDanny to his grandchildren Taylor Joseph Ramagos (Kimi), Hayley Melissa Ramagos and great-grandson Rio Carlos Ramagos. He is also survived by his sisters Danielle "Audrey" Ramagos Andrews and Rita Mae Ramagos Schneider, beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and his bestman and long-time friend Darryl Dufour. Danny was preceded in death by his parents, Hypolite "Bill" and Margaret Ledet Ramagos, sister Janet Ramagos Malhiet and brothers-in-law Len Andrews, Ronald Malhiet and John Schneider.
Danny was a graduate of West Jefferson High School Class of 1966. After highschool, he received an Associates Degree from Delgado Community College and became a certified electrician. He worked as a journeyman wireman with the I.B.E.W. Local 130 of New Orleans, Louisiana for over 25 years. He then moved on to work for other electrical unions in New York and Washington D.C. during the 1980's and then returned to Louisiana to work for Jefferson Parish as an electrician for 16 years until he retired at the age of 65.
Danny enjoyed the outdoors, specifically hunting and fishing, and tending to his lawn and vegetable garden. He was a senior member of the Red-Eye Hunting Club in Carmack, Mississippi for several years and was often referred to as "Pops". He treasured the camaraderie of his son, grandson and fellow members of the club. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends at crawfish boils and other gatherings and was known as "the life of the party". He will be missed by everyone that knew him.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, January 14th, 2023 at 12:00 PM at Westside/Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 5101 Westbank Expressway, Marrero. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM until the time of mass. Family, friends and past co-workers are invited to attend a Celebration of Life at Cafe' 615 (Home of Da Wabbit) in Gretna from 1:00 PM until 4:00 PM.
