Dario E. Scott, born January 27, 1931, in Tegucigalpa, Honduras, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 11, 2026, at 8:05 PM. He is survived by his beloved wife of 74 years, Leticia M. Scott, and his six children: Dario Scott; Jack Scott (Chantelle); Amalia Quatrevingt (Lucien); Leticia Stritzinger (Ronald); Ernesto Scott (Lilian); and Carolina Miller (Troy). He is also survived by 21 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, and 8 great-great-grandchildren, all of whom carry forward his legacy of love, sacrifice, and devotion to family.
Dario worked as a CPA in Honduras for 10 years before moving to New Orleans in 1960 to pursue greater opportunities for his family. Defined by a fierce work ethic and a deep sense of responsibility, he worked as a diesel mechanic for 28 years before retiring in 1991. Throughout his life, Dario remained committed to providing stability, opportunity, and guidance for the generations that followed.
Dario lived a fulfilling and meaningful life, and his family knew him as a wise, devoted, and caring patriarch. Speak with any of his children or his long line of grandchildren, and you will hear the same qualities remembered time and again: his discipline, humility, generosity, resilience, and unwavering dedication to family. He believed deeply in hard work, personal integrity, and the importance of caring for those you love.
Though he carried immense responsibility throughout his life, Dario was also known for his warmth, humor, and quiet wisdom. He found joy in gathering with family, sharing stories, offering advice, and witnessing the growth of the family he had worked so tirelessly to build. His steady presence and enduring strength shaped the lives of everyone around him.
Dario’s legacy lives on not only through the generations who survive him but also through the values he instilled in them: perseverance, loyalty, compassion, and the importance of family above all else. He will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever cherished by all who knew and loved him.
Family and friends are invited to attend the visitation for Dario on May 18, 2026, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Westside/Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 5101 Westbank Expressway in Marrero.
