David Peter Sampey, a loving husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully at his home in Luling, Louisiana, on October 28, 2025, at the age of 82. Born in Bridge City, Louisiana, on June 11, 1943, David lived a full and spirited life devoted to family, hard work, and the open road.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Abigail, with whom he shared 61 wonderful years of marriage; his son, Rickie; his daughter, Angelle; his grandsons, Logan and Landon; his granddaughters, Ava and Mya; and his sister, Loretta Palm.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Everal “Turk” Sampey and Doris Sampey, and his brothers, Harold Sampey and Floyd Sampey.
David spent his career on the road as a dedicated truck driver, finding freedom and pride in every mile. He was a Freemason and a proud member of Louisiana Lodge No. 102, as well as a Noble of Jerusalem Shrine and a devoted member of the Jerusalem Shrine Motorcycle Escort.
Through his Masonic and Shrine work, David gave back to his community with generosity, brotherhood, and compassion.
He had a deep passion for motorcycles and racing, and he especially loved spending time with his loyal dog, Bandit, who was always by his side. But above all, his greatest joy came from being with his grandchildren, who were the light of his life.
David will be remembered for his strength, his sense of humor, and his unwavering love for his family. His legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
“Your race is over, and Heaven has our Champion now.”
