David Peter "Pete" Schouest went home with our Lord and savior Jesus Christ peacefully on Wednesday, March 3, 2021 at the age of 65. He was a lifelong resident of Westwego, Louisiana. He was born in New Orleans, Louisiana at Charity Hospital on November 27th, 1955. Pete's passion in life was fishing, riding his bike, and he loved to draw pictures of animals, people, and whatever he saw, he would draw it. He worked at Avondale Shipyard for five years as pipefitter helper. He suffered with mental issues all of his life, but over came most of these issues. He loved to go shopping at Dollar Tree, The Family Dollar, and Walmart. He would buy stuff and give it away to his family and friends. He had a kind heart.
He was the son of the late Alton Phillip Schouest, and the mother he adored, Annabelle Josephine Rausch Schouest. Pete was the beloved brother to Leroy J. "Big Head" Schouest (Sybil) and his sister Lena M. Schouest (the late Tommy Goins). Brother of the late Geraldine M. Smith (Louis), Elton A. Schouest (Marilyn), Phillip J. "T-Boy" Schouest (Alida), Ethel S. Gambino (Norman), and Nathan W. "Nate" Schouest (Olite). He is survived by a great host of beloved nieces and nephews. Beloved friend of many.
Pete never met a stranger. He was sweet, generous, and kind. Pete was one of a kind. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Special thanks go out to his nephew Harris J. "Bubba" Schouest for his love and help in Pete's time of medical need. Also, thanks to his beloved sister and caregiver, Lena Schouest, his beloved brother Leroy "Big Head" Schouest, and his niece Sadie Smith, for the care and love during his illness. Prayers from all of his family and friends are deeply appreciated.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Funeral service in Pete's honor on Wednesday, March 10th, 2021 at 11:00AM in the chapel of Westside/Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 5101 Westbank Expressway in Marrero, Louisiana.
