Delfino is survived by his loving wife, Elidia Luna Chavez; his children, Jose Perez, Gladiola Fierros (Zol) , Delfino Perez Jr (Martha), Jasmin Martinez (Miguel); and 10 grandchildren. He is predeceased by his mother, Christina Udave; his father, Jose Perez; his sister, Paula Perez; and his brother, Severo Perez.
Delfino was born & raised in El Rincon de la Serna, Jalisco, on December 24, 1952, in an adobe home. In 1980 he married Elidia, a schoolteacher from Tepusco, Jalisco. Together, they lived in Gretna, on the same street for over 45yrs.
Delfino was a very joyful, humble, lighthearted person. He loved to tell stories of how it was living in the countryside of Mexico. Though his childhood was rough he learned the value of hard work. He was always a kind person with many friends and reminisced of his days as a professional boxer in the 80’s. In addition to boxing, he was an avid runner, competing & winning various distance races throughout South Louisiana. He thoroughly enjoyed his career as a concrete contractor. He took pride in all his work but loved the social aspect of his job. New locations, clients, and problems to overcome, all of which he enjoyed. Past clients would recognize him in his blue work truck, same truck he drove for 35yrs, and stop him to catch up. Above all, he was a family man, always surrounded by loved ones.
A Funeral Service at Westside/Leitz-Eagan Funeral home, 1501 Westbank Expy, Marrero, LA 70072 is scheduled for Saturday, March 21, 2026 with visitation from 11am to 3pm and Mass following at 3pm.
