Donald Alexander was born June 23, 1944 to the late James Alexander and Mercedes Norbert Starks. On Wednesday, September 9, 2020, Donald departed this life to be with his Lord. He leaves to cherish his memories: his beloved wife of 14 years, Rev. Dr. Lillian Henderson Alexander; children Deandra Williams (Carlos), Chris Norbert (Tollyer), Danell Chaney (Lucy), Hope Hawkins, April Fontenot (Kenneth), and Dwayne Chaney (Tosha); brothers James "J.B" Starks (Gloria), and Michael Starks; devoted nieces Misty Starks, Tamika Starks, and Tamara Palma (Xavier); Brother-in-law of Dr. Anthony Phillip Cooper and Dr. Veronica Cooper; as well as a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, other nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, as well as a brother, Shelton Maurice Starks and a sister Sheila Starks.

He loved to fish, and would often be found with a hook in the water, or better yet a fish in the grease. He spent most of his working life in the restaurant industry in New Orleans, and was an amazing cook. He excelled in the elegance of fine dining in one of the greatest culinary cities in the world. He proudly served in the US Army. He was one of those people that people loved being around.

The Army of God Church, Philadelphia Ministries, Davita Dialysis Center, Ochsner Westbank Hospital, relatives, and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral service at Westside Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 5101 Westbank Expressway, on Saturday, September 12, 2020 at 9:00 AM. Visitation will begin at 8:00 AM. Interment will be in Old Union Cemetery in Gretna. Express condolences at www.westsideleitzeagan.com.

I pray his soul Rest In Peace. For the one are two times I met him, I was convinced he had a sense of humor. One thing for sure he loved his wife, you could see it in the way he looked at her. He was a pleasure to be around.

"Auntie" Donald Alexander (inside joke). You are already missed. Your demeanor & aura was always warm & welcoming in my presence. I know that my son, Xavier, kept a special relationship with you. There's is still a certain level of disbelief over this news... In peace you make your journey as are my memories of you the same (peace-filled)

Rev. Lillian Alexander and family- my deepest
and heartfelt condolences! I remember Elder Donald Alexander as a beautiful and kind soul. I felt the the love and affection you had for each other the evening you gave me a ride from over the Chalmette Ferry. You were newly weds then and had been fishing. We had a wonderful conversation and I will never forget how you both made me feel so warm and welcomed!
Thank you so much. God bless his memory!

My condolences to Rev. Doctor Lillian Alexander and to the entire family of the Reverend Alexander and The Donald's family. Because they enjoyed and loved each other so much, I had not realized how the years went by for their fourteen years of age marriage. They truly enjoyed each other and the many activities they did together. I was so delighted when they wed, you could see the sparkles in each of their eyes. Although, the Donald left us his love will continue to be with us, and we will continue to be kind to each other as he was a champion of good deeds.

I met Bro. Donald Alexander when he married my mother's best friend,Dr. Rev. Lillian Henderson Alexander. He showed his true colors when my mom was making her journey home, he was there helping her , bringing her whatever she needed, and always with a broad smile and a joke.
Your presence will be missed, but your impact on me will last forever.
