Donald Dupont was called home to our Lord and Savior on December 24, 2022. He passed away peacefully in his sleep at the age of 67. He was born in New Orleans, Louisiana on January 29, 1955 to the late Dudley and Marie Dupont.
Two of the most influential moments in Don’s life were meeting the Lord and Christine. In 1972, at the tender age of 17, he began his relationship with the Lord, a walk that would never end. He compared this event to a “lighting bolt experience”, and it changed his whole perspective on life. Three years later at a Bible Fellowship group in their hometown of New Orleans, Louisiana, he met his wife Christine, and got married a year later. Faithfully, they have served together devoting their time to the Lord, and raising five wonderful children.
Don was the devoted husband of 46 years to Christine Backstedt Dupont. Loving father of Donald Ray Dupont, Jr. (Shirley), Jonathan David Dupont (Alexis), Rebekah Dupont Ramirez (Tony), Christopher Michael Dupont (Katherin) and Joshua Joseph Walter Dupont. Proud grandfather of Pamela Dupont, Shirley Ann Dupont, Madeline Dupont, Donald Dupont, III, Brianna Dupont, Lilyanna Dupont, Jonathan Dupont, II, Veda Dupont, Anabelle Dupont, Lawrence Dupont, Arthur Dupont, Micah Ramirez, Isabella Ramirez, Hailey Ramirez and Amelia Ramirez. Brother of Dudley Dupont, Jr. (Marsha), Terry Dupont (Regina), Richard Dupont (Janet), Linda Dupont Smith (Warren), John Dupont (Lizanne). Donald is also survived by many other extended family and friends.
Donald Dupont began his ministry after attending God’s Army Seminary in Kerman, California graduating on July 7, 1977. White Dove Fellowship became his home church where he served faithfully in ministry until he retired in 2017 to aid his wife in caring for her elderly mother. Don worked with missions, the youth, homeschool co-op, and young adults, but his true calling was working in the Children's Ministry. Using puppets, skits, and dove dollars, a reward system to inspire the kids, he loved teaching them about the Lord. Don would say some of his favorite accomplishments were his commitment to the Lord for 50 years, his marriage for 46 years, his 5 godly children, his 15 grandchildren, and the Dove Dollar.
Don loved his children and grandchildren laughing and spending time with them. All of his children would say their dad loved the Lord. Watching sci-fi shows and movies were some of his favorite things. He loved computers, books, and board games, and also enjoyed making videos, movies, and recently tried his hand at animation. Fond memories were made at Christmas Eve parties with his mother and father including more food than you could eat or should eat! He loved everything about them, excluding the year his mom asked him to be Santa Claus. Don was handy, and could fix almost anything with enough time. Don loved studying God’s Word, and spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ to others. One of his biggest legacies was not only his children and grandchildren’s lives, but also the many lives he touched in his ministry. Don and Christine would go on daily walks where they would continually pray over their children and grandchildren hedging them in prayer. He also loved praying with others, and led Monday night prayer for many years. He was a great conversationalist and would love to talk about the book of Revelation with his friends. We believe all his questions and theories are already answered as he meets with His Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
A Celebration of Life will be held on January 21, 2023 at White Dove Fellowship, 3600 Manhattan Blvd., Harvey. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am followed by the service at 11:00 am.
