Edward “Doc” Helmer passed away on Saturday, July 28, 2012 with his only son by his side. He was the beloved husband of the late Shirley Esta Helmer and the loving father of Guy Helmer (Susan Hibbs). He was the grandfather of Tiffany Gonzales (Nicholas), Ashley Hibbs (Matthew Diamond) and the late Dennis Hibbs as well as the great-grandfather of 8. He was the son of the late Joseph Helmer and Leola Glenn Helmer and the brother of Carol Lee Helmer, Carolyn Rivere, the late Irvin Helmer, Arthur Helmer and Marie Autin. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Edward was a United States Army Veteran and a lifelong resident of Westwego.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the memorial service on Saturday, August 11, 2012 at WESTSIDE/LEITZ-EAGAN FUNERAL HOME, 5101 WESTBANK EXPRESSWAY, MARRERO.
