Efrain "Papi" Francisco Vergara

Efrain “Papi” Francisco Vergara entered peacefully into heaven on Saturday, March 22, 2014, surrounded by his loving family. Devoted husband of the late Coralia Anido Vergara of 63 years. Loving father of Efrain E. Vergara (Marta), Eva Vergara Llorens, Eulalia Vergara Peluso. Proud grandfather of Martha V. Davis, Edel Vergara, Elizabeth D. Stout (Donald), Susie L. Miller-Blake (John), Jorge Llorens (Megan), Heidi Swanson, Michael Peluso, and Matthew Peluso. Great grandfather of Chaz, Harley Marie, Raine, Christiane, Jonathan, Jeremy, Zachary, Seth, Hayley, Layla, Lucie, Sean, and Claire.

Son of the late Eulalia Alfonso Vergara and Jose Ramon Vergara and brother of Edilia Vergara. Age 88, a native of Matanzas, Cuba and a lifelong resident of Marrero, LA.

“Papi” is also survived by numerous loving nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He worked for many years at Avondale Ship Yard and retired in 1991. Upon retirement he enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing, working in his yard, gardening, and vacations with his family.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at Westside Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 5101 Westbank Expressway, Marrero, LA on Tuesday, March 25, 2014 at 1:00 pm. Visitation from 9:00 am to Mass time. Interment in Westlawn Cemetery in Gretna, LA.
