Elvin "Mike" Gisclair

Elvin "Mike" Gisclair of Marrero, Louisiana passed away on Friday, July 26, 2024, at the age of 76. He was a native of Lafitte, Louisiana born to the late August Gisclair, Sr. and Dora Cheramie Gisclair. Beloved Husband of Yosette Plaisance Gisclair for 56 loving years. Devoted father of Michael Gisclair (Jenniffer) and Jacinta Gisclair. Proud Grandfather of Anya Gisclair and Molly Gisclair-Lewis. Brother of the late Vivian Creppel, Augustine Varney, August Gisclair, Jr., and Doraline Willis. Mike is also survived by many other relatives and friends who are left to cherish his memory.

Mike proudly served his nation as a Navy Seabee and was later known to many in Lafitte as "Mike the Welder."

Mike was a devoted Christian and a deacon of Barataria Baptist Church as his father was before him. He always said he was an instrument of God, and with God's guidance and Mike's hands, the new sanctuary of Barataria Baptist Church was built.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00AM on Wednesday, July 31st, 2024 at Barataria Baptist Church, 2596 Jean Lafitte Boulevard in Lafitte, Louisiana. A visitation will begin at 9:00AM and continue until the service time. Mike will be laid to rest at St. Pius X Cemetery, 8151 Barataria Boulevard in Crown Point, Louisiana.
