

Scooter was born on June 21, 1954 to Elwood “Sonny” Savoie, Sr. and Gloria Sarrah Savoie. He was a resident of Westwego, La until moving to Covington, La in 2014. Scooter was a 1972 graduate of West Jefferson High School and attended Delgado Community College. He was a machinist by trade. In earlier years he was employed at Avondale Shipyard (later Bollinger), BP Alliance Refinery and retired from Chevron Oronite in 2019.
Scooter courageously battled kidney cancer since August 2011. While his prognosis at the time was dismal, he continued to defy the odds many times through the years. He enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing, traveling and was a corvette enthusiast. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
He is preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Marlene and Darlene Savoie; and brother-in-law, Kemp Watts.
Scooter is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Theresa Murphy Savoie; children Amber Savoie Cardon (Jarred) and Brent Savoie (Toni); his grandchildren Hayes Savoie, Layla Cardon, Jeremiah Cardon and Joel Cardon; sister, Susan Savoie Watts (Kemp); nephew and godson, Brad Watts (Ashley); niece and godchild, Katie Watts (Alex); Godchildren, Andrea Terrebonne Mayeur and Shelie Digiovanni Carlson, as well as numerous other family and friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Mass at 1:00 PM on Friday, July 23, 2021 in the chapel of Westside/Leitz-Eagn Funeral Home, 5101 Westbank Expressway in Marrero, Louisiana. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM and continue until the service time. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Mausoleum at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Cemetery in Westwego, Louisiana.
