Emma was born in Marrero Louisiana and raised in Harvey by her parents , the late Casimere and Vivian Bruce. She married the late Esso J Plaisance Jr. (Honey). They were married for 52 years. She lived most of her married life in Algiers Louisiana and later moved to Loranger. She had three children, Eric Plaisance, Tammy Kamerman and the late Timothy Plaisance. The gift of another child came later when her beloved niece Rolly Ann Smith became a daughter to both she and Esso. Emma’s grandchildren are Elliot Plaisance, Arielle Ustick, Timothy Plaisance, Maeve Collazo, Elise Tomeny, Morgan Padgett, Amber Smith and Emily Plaisance. She was “Emma” to 14 great grands: Lillian, Oliver, Bennett, Henry, Luella, Jett, Gerard, Rose, Azelie, Patrick, Genevieve, Holden, Eleanore and Samuel. Emma was the last daughter of seven siblings. She is survived by one sister, Mary Lou Ditta and one brother, Rolly Bruce.
Emma was a very loving and caring person. She spent her years as a house wife, mom and friend. She always gave her time and talents wherever needed such as school, church, community and her beloved Krewe of Cleopatra. She was a member and officer of the Krewe of Cleopatra where she served as Queen 22. She was actually a queen to her family and friends her whole lifetime. Emma and Honey were very hospitable, opening their home to many family and friends for short and extended periods of time. Emma always loved to dance but it became her passion in later years. Dancing brought her much joy and gained her many new friendships. The Providence Memory Care facility staff workers would dress her up every day and sometimes clear a dance floor in the Dining hall when she requested. She danced as long as her legs allowed. Emma’s memory may have failed in the end but she will forever be in the memory of the people she crossed paths with. There will never be another “Emma”!
