Emma White, 97, of Luling, Louisiana passed away November 7, 2022. Emma was born on June 29, 1925 in Brandon Mississippi, the first born in her family of five. She grew up in Texas City, Texas where, according to her early report cards, she whispered too much in class. She learned to drive on the family farm and got her first driver’s license at only 11 years old. Just days after turning 17 in 1942, she married Delbert White and they had two daughters, Loyce and Jeanne. Delbert’s career took them from Texas to Puerto Rico and finally to Louisiana where they settled in Luling in 1968.
Delbert and Emma were charter members of Bible Center Church, where they spent many years serving in the nursery and became known as Memo and PaPa to everyone.
Each of their daughters had two children, who blessed them with 8 great grandchildren. Emma was preceded in death by Delbert (2009), Loyce Longino (2017) and Chuck Longino (2008). She is survived by her daughter Jeanne Stewart, grandchildren Laura Longino, Loy Pippin (Scott), Charles Longino (Jackie), Jill Orillion (George), and great grandchildren Travis (Haley), Alex, Daniel, Chase, Jackson, Brynn, Maggie and Jack.
Our Memo loved the Lord and lived her life sharing the gospel. Her favorite verse was John 14:6
Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the father except through me.“
