Ernest Edward Massey, Jr. passed away on Saturday, August 29, 2015 at the age of 88. He was born August 2, 1927 in Pensacola, Florida to the late Ernest Edward Massey, Sr of Mobile, Alabama and the late Bertha Halpin Massey of Pensacola. He was the beloved husband by first marriage to the late Myra Lastrapes Massey for 48 years and by second marriage to Ruth G. LaCoste Massey since 2000. He was the loving father of Ernest G. Massey, Cathy T. Rogers (Terry), Michael T. Massey, and Mary T. Massey. He was the devoted grandfather of Katy Rogers Solis (Raymond, Sr.), Caroline Rogers, Andrew Rogers, Jessica Breaux (Brad), and Michael Massey (Misuzu) as well as the great grandfather of Cameron Breaux, Raymond Solis Jr. and Myra Massey. He was the brother of Margaret Massey, C. Patrick Massey, and the late Helen Flock. He is also survived by various nieces and nephews.
Mr. Massey graduated from Pensacola High School in 1940 and served in the United States Marine Corp during World War II. He later graduated from Southwestern Louisiana Institute in 1951 which is now University of Louisiana—Lafayette with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. He was employed by Amoco Production Company for 36 years in various locations in Louisiana and Texas. He was a Parishoner of Christ the King Catholic Church, Terrytown, LA for over 40 years as well as a member of Christ the King Knights of Columbus Council #687 and the Holy Name Society. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 378.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a Memorial Mass at Christ the King Catholic Church on Saturday, September 12, 2015 at 11:00 AM. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM. A Rosary will be said at 10:15 AM, and the American Legion honors will follow at 10:30 AM. Military honors will follow. Interment will be in Pensacola.
