Florence “Dee Dee” Matherne Alexie went home to meet the love of her life and daughter on July 8, 2014. Beloved wife of the late Vincent “Ben” Alexie, Jr. Loving mother of John Alexie, Ethel Smith, Ricky Alexie, Alma Schultz, Thelma Prior, Benny Alexie, and the late Edna Mae Alexie. Mother in law of Peggy Pieno Alexie, Anthony Smith, Barbara Thomas Alexie, Troy Schultz, Sr., Scott Prior, Tammy Autin Alexie, Vanessa Perrin, and Marilyn Villar. Daughter of the late John Walter Matherne and the late Edna Frickey Matherne. Sister of Josephine Smith (Teddy Mayfield), the late Lawrence Matherne, the late Linda Matherne D’augeraux, and the late Warren “Pete” Ronquille. Sister in law of Opal Matherne, Patricia Alexie Ledoux, and the late Josephine Moll (Jerry), Irma Terrio (Clinton), Inez Angler (Henry), Edward Alexie Sr. (Geraldine), Felix Alexie Sr., and Raymond Smith. Grandmother of John “Jay” Alexie, Shannon Alexie Matherne (Rickey), Shalane Alexie Bottolfson (Andy), Kelly Allemand (Kelby), Brian Stansbury Jr., Brandee Smith McDonald (Craig), Jeremy Smith (Stephanie), Ricky Alexie, Jr. (Leigh), Nicky Alexie (Chantelle), Christopher Thomas (Hiromi), Jesus Thomas, Nicholas Lujan, Lori Schultz Reece, Troy Schultz, Jr. (Caitlin), Vincent Prior, Stephanie Prior, Ashley Alexie-Maher (Joseph), Brooke Alexie, and Benny “B.J.” Alexie Jr. Great-Grandmother of Rickey III, Grace, Avery, and Leah Matherne, Olivia and Ellis Alexie, Danielle, Aristille, Caine, and Kailee Carriere, John Bottolfson, Joshua and Matthew Fabre, Ciara and Julian Allemand, Abby and Cade McDonald, Jake and Jade Smith, Jenny Dupre, Chloe, Kyleigh, and Keigan Alexie, Brendan, Anna, and Justin Thomas, Miley and McKinley Reece, Lane Schultz, Cameron Maher, and Baby Maher. Godmother of Felix Alexie Jr., Reed Prestenbach, Michael Ronquille, and the late Linda Matherne D’augeraux. Sadly missed by a host of nieces, nephews, and many other loving relatives and friends. Special friend of the staff, the Pokeno Club, and the members of the Lafitte Senior Center. Mrs. Alexie was 80 years old and a lifelong resident of Barataria/Lafitte. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Service from Westside LEITZ-EAGAN, 5101 Westbank Expressway, Marrero, on Tuesday Morning, July 15, 2014 at 11:00. Visitation will be held on Monday evening from 6:00 until 11:00, and on Tuesday morning from 8:00 until service time. Entombment will follow in St. Pius X Mausoleum, Crown Point.
