Gabriel Paul Johnson

He was the father of Luke Wyatt Johnson; son of Julie Sinitiere Johnson and Teddy Paul Johnson; brother of Bradley William Johnson; uncle of Avery Johnson and McKenzie Johnson; grandson of the late Godfrey Sinitiere, Esmae Laurent Sinitiere, L.C. Johnson and Bracie Dell Lafon Johnson.

Gabriel loved the water from the time he was a small child. He studied Marine Biology at Louisiana State University, telling his mother excitedly that he had “been training for this job all my life.” He loved being in or on the water more than anything, with the exception of spending time with his son. He was one of those people who made friends everywhere he went. If you met him, you quickly became his friend. Gabe also loved hunting with his friends and his dog, and spending time at the family camp in Grand Isle. He was the president of the Louisiana Council of Underwater Dive Clubs. He often spoke of his desire that when his time would come, he wanted to be in the water, which is exactly what happened.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated in the Chapel of Westside Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 5101 Westbank Expressway, Marrero, on Saturday, September 19, 2026 at 1:00 PM. Memorial visitation will begin at 9:00 AM. Inurnment will be at a later date.
