

George (Red Pop) Forsyth passed away on Tuesday, February 04, 2014 at the age of 86. He was a resident of Jefferson Parish for over 70 years. He was the beloved husband of the late Vera C. Forsyth. Son of the late Harry H. Forsyth Sr. and Ewella Bourgeois Forsyth. Father of David Forsyth Sr. (Kathy) and the late Infant Forsyth. Grandfather of Cherelle F. Stanley (Bryan) and David Forsyth Jr. Great grandchildfather of Mason and Brennen Stanley. Brother of Diane “Tuttie” Wattigney (Milton), and the late Harry, Clayton, and Lee. He is also survived by his longtime best friend, Bernick Terrebonne, as well as Bridget Shaw. He was a retired welder at Avondale’s Harvey Quick Repair Yard. Veteran of the US Coast Guard. Member of Manresa House Retreat and K.C. Immaculata Council 4222. The family would like to thank the staff of Wynhoven Health Care Center and Notre Dame Hospice for the excellent care.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Marrero on Thursday, February 6, 2014 at 11:00 AM. Visitation will be at Westside Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 5101 Westbank Expressway, on Thursday from 8:30 AM until 10:30 AM. Interment will be in Westlawn Cemetery.
