He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Elnora Lemon, his sister Rosetta Dickerson, five 5 brothers; Royal John, Bill, James, and Joseph Lemon and six 6 sisters-in-law's; Helen, Hilda, Florida, Hazel, Carol, and Annie.
George faithfully attended online streaming Bible meetings of Jehovah's witnesses in Luling Louisiana. His favorite Kingdom song was "Make The Truth Your Own" which is a relationship with God. George retired as a painter with JRW Construction. He was a lifelong employee of Avondale. Dad was very opinionated and did not hesitate to speak his mind. At the same time he enjoyed making people laugh.
George had four 4 favorite passions. His main passion was cooking. His mother owned a restaurant called "The Greasy Spoon". As his home chef, he named his kitchen "The Greasy Spoon". Dad had set hours of operation to receive meals. He was an excellent Chef! His other cherished passions were, reading his daily newspaper, growing the most luxuriant plants, nurturing them while rocking on his porch and helping others. Dad was deeply devoted to volunteering 3 times a week at a local Food Bank in Gretna Louisiana. You would think dad earned a salary of a $100,000 per month. He never wanted to miss! One day to dad's surprise, he was happy to learn his daughter Georgette also volunteered at the same food bank as he did.
From the smiles on dad's face when he spoke about receiving a call from any of his children, it was truly evident he cherished the memories from the call.
The family would like to express their appreciation to Passages Hospice for the loving care that was shown to during the last few days. Also, to the staff of Westside/Leitz Eagan Funeral Home.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service in person or online on Saturday, January 6, 2024 beginning at 1:00 PM at The Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witness, 323 Canal St. in Luling.
