

George Burton Raffray passed away peacefully on November 3, 2021 after an extended illness at the age of 81. He was born on May 19,1940 in Gramercy, Louisiana to the late Burton and Inez Purvis Raffray. George is survived by his deeply devoted wife of 61 wonderful years, Joyce Arceneaux Raffray; devoted sister, Deborah Fazzio (Joel); Brother, Leroy Raffray (Henrietta); sister's-in-law, Dorothy Fanguy (Widly) and Emelda Bourgeois (David) along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and loving friends. He was also preceded in death by his sister's in law, Lois Raffray and Mary Richoux.
George was a long time resident of Westwego, Louisiana. He loved to go camping, fishing and hunting but most of all, he loved to travel. After Joyce retired, they hit the road. They have traveled from coast to coast and even Canada. Of all their travels, their favorite places were Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg, Tennessee. George also enjoyed his hobbies of taxidermy and handmade rosaries. George is dearly loved and will be missed by all who were blessed to have known him.
The family would like to show their sincere gratitude to Louisiana Hospice and Palliative Care for the level of care and compassion they have shown George and the support given to Joyce. They have had a host of wonderful caring people that have helped in their time of need.
A visitation for George will be held Friday, November 12, 2021 from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Westside/Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 5101 Westbank Expressway, Marrero, a funeral service will begin at 1:00 PM and the committal service will immediately follow at Westlawn Cemetery, 1225 Whitney Ave. in Gretna.
