On Friday, October 16, 2026, Geraldine Jackson White's soul passed into eternal rest at the age of 84. She was the daughter of the late Westley and Amelia Henderson Jackson. Geraldine was a loving sister to Herbert (the late Daisy), Herman (the late Carliss), Anthony (Gwendolyn), Gwendolyn Carter, and the late Carolyn (Randolph) Cain. Gerri, as she was fondly called, was the devoted wife of Junious Grant White.
She accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at the Second Highway Baptist Church of Marrero and later joined fellowship at Historic Bethlehem Baptist Church of Hahnville, LA, pastored by Rev. Rodney L. Johnson, Sr.
As a dedicated educator, Geraldine served as a teacher and librarian in the Jefferson Parish Public School System. She prepared for these roles by earning both her bachelor's and master's degrees from Southern University in Baton Rouge, LA.
She leaves to cherish her memory her devoted niece Tanya (Don) Johnson; her devoted son Shawn (Yvonne) White; stepsons John (Keioka) White and Cornell (Patricia) White; stepdaughter Lynnette (Robin) Gordon; grandchildren, a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
To honor her memory, a funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 24, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Historic Bethlehem Baptist Church, 14989 River Rd., Hahnville, LA 70057. Viewing will be from 9:00 to 11:00 AM at the church. Interment will follow at Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, 1225 Whitney Avenue, Gretna, LA.
