Hartwood S Sampey Sr.

Hartwood “Harty” Samuel Sampey, Sr. entered into eternal rest on Friday, May 6th, 2011 with his family by his side at the age of 83. He was the beloved husband of Hilda Hotard Sampey for the past 63 years and the loving father of Mollie Roux (Ursin), Harty Sampey, Jr.(the late Karen), the late Debbie Dorsey and Michael Sampey. He was the devoted grandfather of Ronny Torres, Billy Savoie, Bobby Savoie, Chanda Bird (Carlos), Terry Le Bouef (Danny), Hoythe Savoie (Ashley), Mark Sampey (Alicia) Melodie Clements, Dody Robinson, Zack Carver, the late Larry Pertuit, Jr., the late Jodie Sampey and the late Clay LeCompte and the great-grandfather to many. He was the son of the late Leonard Sampey, Sr. and Amy Walker Sampey as well as the brother of Florence Sampey, Ethel Prince, Helen Champayne (Roy), the late Neva Aucoin, Lawrence Sampey, Warren Sampey, Leonard Sampey, Enice Sampey and Clarence Sampey.

He was a Veteran serving in the United States Army. The family would like to send a special thank you to River Region Hospice and Odyssey Home Health Care, especially Clarice, for their care and dedication to Mr. Sampey.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Services from WESTSIDE/LEITZ-EAGAN FUNERAL HOME, 5101 WESTBANK EXPRESSWAY, MARRERO, LA. Visitation will be held on Monday, May 9, 2011 from 9:00 AM until 12:00 Noon at which time a Mass of Christian Burial will be held in the Chapel. Burial will then be held in Restlawn Memorial Park.
