

Hendrix "Brother" Bourgeois, Sr., born July 27, 1912, passed away peacefully Saturday, April 16, 2011 at the age of 98-1/2 years. A native of Lafourche Parish and a resident of Westwego since 1931. Beloved husband of the late Bertha Duhe Bourgeois. Loving father of Hendrix "Eppie" Bourgeois, Jr., Jacqueline "Jackie" B. Morlas, William "Boo" Bourgeois, Sr., Sandra B. Vegas, Dewey Bourgeois and the late Ray Bourgeois and Baron Bourgeois, Sr. Father-in-law of Joyclen S. Bourgeois, Victor "Butsy" Morlas Jr., Julia D. Bourgeois, Ray Vegas and Maryanne D. Bourgeois. Survived by 11 Grandchildren, 14 Great Grandchildren, and 1 Great Great Grandchild. Son of the late Albert Bourgeois, Sr. and Helena Autin Bourgeois. Brother of the late Una B. Toups, Alex Bourgeois, Sr., Gertrude B. Hourcade, Albert "Catfish" Bourgeois, Jr. and Robert Bourgeois, Sr. Also survived by many relatives and friends.
Mr. Bourgeois worked at The Celotex Corporation, Todd Shipyards, and retired as a Ship fitter from Avondale Shipyards after 25 years. He was a member of Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church and served as an Usher for many years. He served as Committeeman and Alderman for the City of Westwego. Member of the Ernest Tassin Westwego Senior Citizen and the "Ninety Bunch" which he thoroughly enjoyed. Also an avid "LSU" fan, and loved watching all sports.
The family would like to thank Total Home Health Care and Heart of Hospice for their kindness and care given to him during his time of illness.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a Catholic Service at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church, 146 Fourth Street, Westwego, LA on Thursday, April 21, 2011 at 11:00 AM. Visitation will be 9:30 AM until 11:00 AM. Interment will follow in Westlawn Cemetery, Gretna, LA. In lieu of flowers, masses preferred.
