

Hilda Hotard Sampey, a beautiful soul who loved and took care of so many around her, left this world on March 10, 2026, at her daughter's home in which her daughter was her caretaker. Born on July 11, 1930, in Lockport, Louisiana. She resided in Marrero for most of her life.
She was married to the late Hartwood Sampey until the time of his death for 65 years.
She is survived by her daughter Mollie Roux (late Ursin),
grandchildren Chanda Bird (Dewey), Ronny Pertuit Torres, Mark Sampey, Bobby Savoie (Jennifer), Billy Savoie, Dodi Robinson (Jimmy), Hoythe Savoie, Terri Lynn Leboeuf (Danny) and Zack Carver. She is also survived by many great and great- great grandchildren.
She is survived by her brothers Irving "Penny" Hotard (Verlie) and Emile "Butsy" Hotard Jr. (Gayle).
Hilda is preceded in death by her parents Olivia Levron Hotard and Emile Hotard Sr.; her siblings Hubert "Binky" Hotard, Herbert "Pete" Hotard (Joyce), Velma Guidroz (Eddie), Ruth Dugas (Harry), Patsy Lebeau (Calvin "Butch"); her children Michael Sampey, Hardy Sampey Jr., Debbie Sampey Dorsey; and her grandchildren Melodie Sampey Clemmons, Clay LeCompte, Larry Pertuit Jr and Jodi Sampey.
Hilda worked until the young age of 89 and would have continued. She worked many years at Fasullo's, Piggly Wiggly, Kmart and Big Lots.
Mollie would like to give a heartfelt gratitude to her cousin Sylvia Saladina, niece Chanda, and daughter Ronny for helping with her mom's care.
She would also like to thank the nurses and caregivers from Compassus for the wonderful job they did with her mom, especially Brooke, Candice and Demitria.
A graveside service will be held March 23, 2026 at 10 am in Restlawn Cemetery in Avondale.
