Huey John Este Jr. entered into Eternal rest to be with his Lord and savior on Wednesday, January 4th, 2023, surrounded by his loving family, at the age of 80. Beloved husband and best friend of Catherine "Cathy" Foret Este. Devoted and loving Father of Rory Este (Dawn). Son of the late Huey Este, Sr. and Rosalie Balestra Este. He will be greatly missed by his two granddaughters, Kayla Trahan (Aaron) and Hannah Este. He is the loving brother of the late Larry Este, Sr. (Glenn Rae Woods) and the late Gary Este. Huey is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends who will miss him dearly.
Huey touched the lives of many people he has met. He will be remembered by his faith, love, and support that he gave to everyone. Huey served in the United States Army and was drafted to fight in the Vietnam War. Huey worked for and retired from the Jefferson Parish Recreation Department.
The Este family would like to extend their gratitude to the medical staff at West Jefferson Medical Center of Marrero, Louisiana, for the excellent care and compassion that was given to Huey during his time of need.
Relatives, friends, Parish family of St. Joachim Catholic Church and Visitation of Our Lady Catholic Church, Jefferson Transit, Jefferson Parish Engineering Department, and MassMutual (Magnolia Wealth Strategies) are invited to attend a Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, January 10, 2023 in the chapel of Westside/Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 5101 Westbank Expressway in Marrero, Louisiana. A visitation will begin at 8:30 AM and continue until the Mass time. The Mass will be officiated by the Reverend, Father Sidney Speaks. Huey will be laid to rest following the Mass at Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Gretna, Louisiana.
