

Jacob Daniel Plaisance, surrounded by the love of his family, peacefully entered into Eternal life on June 17, 2026. Born on September 22, 1929 to the late Euzebe & Lionel Plaisance. Loving husband to the late Marion Lowery Plaisance. Devoted father to Rhonda Sudo (the late Nile), Scott Plaisance (Do-Bee), and the late Jacob J. Plaisance. He was grandfather to 8 grandchildren. He was the great grandfather to 13 great grandchildren and the great great grandfather to 6 great great grandchildren. He was a brother to Rita Boudreaux (the late Nathan), was preceded in death by Rachel Plaisance, Ethel McAllister, Verly Borras, and Gideon Plaisance. He was also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends whose lives were touched by his love, wisdom, and unwavering support.
Jacob lived a life of faith, love, and laughter and a devotion to those he cherished most. His faith remained a guiding force throughout his life, and was evident in his kindness and compassion he showed to everyone he encountered. He never met a stranger, he had a remarkable ability to make people feel welcomed, loved, and valued. He was always willing to help anyone.
He enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing, working around his yard, and finding projects. He was a sportsman, outdoorsman, and a hardworking man. He was known to many as Jacob, Jake, Doc, and Paw Paw. His love was genuine, his heart was big, and his presence was a blessing to all who knew him.
He was a commercial trawler. He also worked for Lowery Brothers and his own boat Quicksilver, from which he retired.
The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to all of the staff at Wynhoven Healthcare Center and Notre Dame Hospice for their care and compassion.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00AM on Tuesday, June 23, 2026 in the chapel of Westside/Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 5101 Westbank Expressway in Marrero, Louisiana. A visitation will begin at 8:30AM and continue until the Service time. Jacob will be laid to rest following the service at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Mausoleum in Westwego, Louisiana.
