Jerry Michael POWERS

Jerry “Jay” Michael Powers died on Tuesday, April 10, 2018. He was married to Barbara Chauvin Powers for 30 years. Father of Joseph Powers and Stephanie Powers Stefancik (Mark) and step-father of Johnnie Lynn Pujol Thibodeaux. Beloved grandfather of Tina Thibodeaux Carpenter (Samantha), Matthew Thibodeaux, Christopher Thibodeaux (Katelynn) and Danica Stefancik. He was preceded in death by his parents, Letha Jean Blackledge Powers and Michael Joseph Powers and also his brother; Rick Powers. He is also survived by numerous loving nieces, nephews, other relatives, his dogs, Obadiah, Stella, Ariel and friends. Age 69, a native of Laurel, Mississippi, he grew up in the Gentilly area and a resident of Westwego, Louisiana. He served his country in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. He worked for many years for various Tug Boat Companies as their engineer. He was an avid Saints and LSU fan and a loyal Washington Nationals fan. “Jay” enjoyed fishing, hunting, video games, baseball, Saints football games, and mostly spending time with his friends and family. He will be missed greatly by his friends and family. The family would like to thank the staff of Davita Westwego Dialysis Clinic for their compassionate care he was given during his Dialysis treatements. A private memorial service will be held later.
