

Jimmie Paul Rodrigue, 72 of Luling, Louisiana passed away on March 13, 2024. He was born on September 23, 1951 in New Orleans to parents Weldon Henry and Marie Cancienne Rodrigue. He was a native of Marrero and resided in Luling for the past 34 years. He graduated from Archbishop Shaw in the class of 1969. While attending Shaw, he played both football and baseball. Jimmie attended Nicholls State University, where he graduated with a bachelor’s in marketing. While in school, he joined the Tau Kappa Epsilon (TKE) – Mu Zeta fraternity, where he met lifelong friends. He also enjoyed playing golf with many of his friends.
Jimmie is survived by his lifelong loving wife of 34 years, Valerie Neri Rodrigue. He was a loving father to Toni Lukes. He was a proud Papa to Louie his grand-dog and best buddy. He is also survived by his sister Ann Perrin (Sid), brother Joey (Clarice).
Jimmie was also the proud uncle and godfather to Tara Perrin-Seilhan, (Darryn), uncle to Reed Perrin (Brittney), great-uncle to Paisley and Presley Perrin. He had the privilege and honor of being Papa Jim to Samuel and Isabel Lanaux.
Jimmie was an avid LSU fan who bled Purple and Gold. The Lord called him home while doing one of his favorite things: attending the LSU baseball game. Jimmie was a Christian man who loved his Lord. He spent over 30 years dedicated to the adoration chapel. He was a patriot, through-and-through. Jimmie was a big foodie, who enjoyed trying new places with his family. In keeping with his foodie spirit, Jimmie also loved to follow Tom Fitzmorris and often called into his radio show. He never met a stranger and he made friends wherever he went.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Tiger Athletics for the wonderful medical attention given to Jimmie, and also for the support with which they have given the family during this time.
Visitation and Mass will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church, 155 Holy Family Lane, Luling, Louisiana on Thursday, March 21, 2024. Visitation 9:30 a.m-11:00 a.m. with a Funeral Mass to follow. Burial will take place at St. Charles Borromeo Cemetery in Destrehan, LA following the funeral Mass.
