

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 45 years, Vanessa LeBlanc Giambelluca; his mother, Rosa Rita Bacino Giambelluca; his father, Loreto “Lawrence” Giambelluca, and his oldest sister Lucy Giambelluca Sperier.
Growing up in Algiers, John transformed into a gifted athlete and excelled in many sports. After high school and college, with a degree in Linotyping, John began working at his father’s printing company in New Orleans.
John’s entrepreneurial spirit emerged early in life. Over the years, he owned many businesses, most recently the legendary Visko’s Restaurant and G&K Tires, both located in Gretna, Louisiana.
He will be remembered for his devotion to his family, his generous spirit, and the treasured daily lunches he shared with his close friends.
He was the loving and devoted father of John Michael Giambelluca, Jr. (Scarlett), Jennifer Marie Giambelluca (Rick), Jeffery Mark Giambelluca (Heather), and Justin Mark Giambelluca (Rochelle). He was the beloved grandfather of Joshua, Brittany, Cynthia, Alexis, Ashley, Jordan, Jared, Jonathan, Jade, Jewel, Dylan, Justin Jr., Jacie, Jacelyn, Jianni; and proud great-grandfather of 15 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings, L.J. Giambelluca, Dr. Larry Giambelluca, Nancy Giambelluca Ballay and nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at Westside/Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 5101 Westbank Expressway, Marrero, Louisiana 70072, on Wednesday, September 9, from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Visitation will continue on Thursday, September 10, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 610 6th Street, Gretna, Louisiana, from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. A Funeral Mass will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Church at 11:00 a.m., with interment afterward at Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, 1225 Whitney Avenue, Gretna, Louisiana. A celebration of John’s life will continue from 1:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at the Italian American Hall, 712 Porter Street, Gretna, Louisiana 70053.
