John Big John Herbert Whipple Sr.

On October 16, 2013 my loving husband and Dad, John H. Whipple Sr., of Ama, La took his journey to Heaven. He was born on September 19, 1930 to the late James Mason and Mary Dunton Whipple. John was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church and American Legion. He retired from Monsanto Chemical Company in 1985.

He was preceded in death by his son John H. Whipple, Jr. and his granddaughter Alice Ann Whipple. He was also preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Katherine Baker, G.G. Whipple, Betty Fields and Lucy Carpenter; brothers, James Mason Whipple, Jr., Jerry Whipple and his mother and father in law, Louis and Hilda Brady.

Survivors are his wife of 60 years, Mary Brady Whipple of Ama; their children, Lynell Whipple of Baton Rouge, La; James Norman Whipple of Ama and Nancy Kay Garrido of San Antonio, Texas. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Analiza and Antonio Garrido of San Antonio, Texas, Kari Whipple Mead of Dumas, Texas and Jonathan Whipple of Ama and his great grandchildren, John, Helen and Kotton Mead of Dumas, Texas. He is also survived by his brother in law and wife L. J. and Olympa Brady of Luling, LA and numerous nieces and nephews.

The funeral mass will be Friday, October 18, 2013 at 11:00 am at Holy Rosary Church, Hahnville, LA with Father Bernard Francis officiating. Burial will follow at the Jefferson Memorial Gardens, 11316 River Road, St. Rose, LA. Visitation will be Friday, October 18, 2013 from 9:00 am – 11:00 am.
