Jose Higinio Castellanos (1939-2026), 86 years old of New Orleans, Louisiana, passed away peacefully at his home on October 24, 2026. He was born on December 25, 1939 in Ciudad Vieja, Guatemala. He was preceded in death by his parents Sylvestre and Herlinda Castellanos, and stepmother Leonor.
Jose built a life anchored in hard work, honesty, unwavering kindness and being an exceptional provider for his family. Jose had a passion for music, he was an avid musician of the marimba and harmonica.
Jose is survived by his loving wife Lilian Castellanos, a shared lifetime together for a wonderful 63 years, his cherished children Brenda, Yvonne, Jose (Joanne) and grandchildren William, Ashley, Jose Julian, Jacob, Joshua and Emily. He leaves behind a great legacy his family will proudly carry forward.
Mass will be held on Friday, October 30, 2026 at 2:00PM to celebrate his life and honor his wishes at: Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church, 146 4th Street in Westwego, Louisiana.
Jose's kindness, dedication, and love for his family will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him and may he rest in peace knowing that it was a life well-lived.
