Joyce Fitzgerald Hernandez, 80, entered into eternal peace on Wednesday, December 5, 2018. Beloved wife of Earl Joseph Hernandez, Jr. for over 64 years. Joyce was a loving mother to Cheryl H. Ditcharo (Antony “AJ”), Earl J. Hernandez III (Jeanell), and Leslie J. Hernandez (Diana). Grandmother to Erica Allison (Tommy), Earl “EJ” Hernandez IV (Tracy), Garrett Hernandez (Jessica), Michael Hernandez, Anthony “Tony” Ditcharo III (Allison), Amanda Blome (Josh), Gina Williams (Tyler), Travis Hernandez Sr., and Trent Hernandez, as well as eight great grandchildren, Dustin Allison, Amilya Garcia, Nichole Blome, Travis Hernandez Jr., Brooklyn Hernandez, Leah Hernandez, Zoey Blome and Bella Roux Hassell, and many nieces, nephews, and friends. Joyce is also survived by her sister Joan Kerlec and brother William “Manny” Fitzgerald Jr. Joyce was preceded in death by her loving parents William and Jane Lee Fitzgerald and sisters Agnes Thomisee, Rose Riehm, Margaret Griffin, Mary Blum, and two brothers Edwin Fitzgerald and James Fitzgerald. A special thanks to Zoe Larned MD at the Cancer Center of Ochsner Hospital and her caregivers (Kim, Jennifer, and Cynthia) from Louisiana Hopsice and Pallative Care who treated Joyce and her family with compassion and dignity. She was a wonderful wife and mother. She and her husband enjoyed traveling and long walks in the French Quarter. She loved the feel of the city. Most of all, she loved her family. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in the Chapel of Westside Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 5101 Westbank Expressway, Marrero, on Saturday, December 8, 2018 at 1:00 PM. Visitation will begin at 11:00 AM. When me and Diana Turned seven years old, Nanny had us help bake our own Birthday cake. We thought we was just for a crawfish boil. Lol so many wonderful moments.
I loved seeing Nanny and Uncle Earl at sams. Fly high Nanny.
