

Juan Reyes Perez passed away on Thursday, January 25, 2018 at the age of 66. He was the beloved husband of Janelle Cordes Perez. He was the son of the late Jose Luis Reyes Perez and Shirley Mae Aiola Perez Phillips. He was a close friend with Ron Sutto. He had numerous siblings, as well as nieces and nephews, but was particularly close with his brother, Joseph Perez. He was a native of New Orleans, and resident of Marrero for many years. Juan was a true public servant, first as a US Marine, then as a deputy and detective with Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office, and then as a Justice of the Peace in District 2 of Jefferson Parish. As an entrepreneur, Juan operated Perez’ Janitorial, and had opened a restaurant, Café Derbigny. He was active in the life and ministry of Faith Presbyterian Church in Harvey, and was an active member of the Marrero Lion’s Club and Delta Fraternity. He attended Shaw High School, and was a graduate of Francis T. Nicholls High School and Nicholls State University. Juan enjoyed celebrating life to its fullest.
A Memorial Service will be held at Westside Leitz-Eagan Funeral, 5101 Westbank Expressway, on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at 10:30 AM. Visitation will begin at 8:30 AM. Inurnment will be in Port Hudson National Cemetery in Zachary at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Faith Presbyterian Church in Harvey, or your favorite charity.
