Jules Nunez

Jules Leon Nunez, a native of New Orleans, and lifetime resident of Lafitte for 80 years, passed into the arms of our Lord on Friday, February 21, 2014. He was the owner of Nunez Seafood for 63 years. Son of the late Rachel Adam Nunez of Lafitte and Leon (Copie) Nunez of Reggio, LA. Beloved husband of Louella Perrin Nunez for 63 years. Loving father of Trudy Bourgeois (Hal), Randy (Debbie), Kirby (Dena), Christy Creppel (Paul Joiner), and Shaney Ferrell (Manuel). Beloved and cherished grandfather of 12 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Preceded in death by his sister, Anna Ruth Harvey. Survived by many loving nieces, nephews, godchildren, and friends. Jules was a loving, generous, and compassionate man. He was a mentor and father-figure to many young people on the bayou. He was a man of deep faith and to him family was everything and everyone was family. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Lafitte on Wednesday, February 26, 2014 at 11:00 AM. Visitation will begin on Tuesday Evening at the church at 6:00 PM until 10:00 PM, and continue at 8:30 AM on Wednesday until the Mass. Interment will be in St. Pius X Mausoleum in Crown Point.
