Karen Ann Sosa

Karen was the beloved wife of 37 years to José Sosa, Sr. She was the cherished daughter of Pearl Guidroz Guillot and Sheldon “Bobby” Guillot. Loving mother of Anthony “Tony” J. Venezia, Jr., and his wife, Tiffany. She was a devoted stepmother to José Sosa, Jr. (Tanya), Antonio “Tony” Sosa (Veronica), and Angela Sosa Quick (Randy). Karen was a proud and loving grandmother to Taylor, José III, Gabrielle (Brennen), Casey, Tave, and Tanner, and a loving “grandma” to her cherished grand pups, Milo and Ringo. She was the sister of Cheryl, Ronald, Paula, and Kevin (Melissa).

Karen shared a particularly close bond with her niece Nicole (Sam) and her godchild Laila (Alaya). She was lovingly known as “Nana Karen” to her great-nieces and nephews Kyla (Lyla) Liliana, Lana, Luke, and Samuel Jr. Special mention is given to her favorite childhood cousin, Judy, and her dear friends Kris, Ida, and Josephine. Karen is also survived by her nieces Darian (Joey), Dareth, Addison, Shentell, and Donna; her nephew Donald Jr. and their children as well as numerous in-laws, other extended family members, and friends.

Karen was preceded in death by her treasured daughter, Kelly Ann Venezia, her brother Donald, her mother-in-law, Lina Sosa and her grandparents, Ovey and Edith Guillot and Joseph and Inez Guidroz. She was also preceded in death by her late, beloved Pomeranian, Candy.

Karen retired after many years as a dedicated beautician/barber at Impact Hair Design in New Orleans, where she built lasting relationships with clients and coworkers alike. She was also a devoted caregiver to her brother-in-law Edgar, a role she fulfilled with compassion and selflessness. Karen’s kind, loving, and generous spirit will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church, Avenue A, Westwego, Louisiana, on Saturday, January 24, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be held at the church from 9:00 a.m. until Mass time.

Interment in Our Lady of Prompt Succor Cemetery, Westwego.
