Karl James Melling

with lung cancer.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 34 years, Jane Theriot Melling; sons Andrew (Elizabeth) Melling, and Jeffery

(Lacey) Melling; and grandchildren Layla and Bradley. Son of Iris (the late Bert) Bailly and the late Christopher

Melling. Brother of Karen (the late Larry) Leger of Stony Brook, N.Y., and the late William Melling. Brother-in-law

of Theresa (John) Mire, Ann (James) Peeples, and the late Frank Theriot, Jr. Uncle of Toby (Alison) Theriot, Sean

(Christina) Peeples, and Brandi (Thomas) Barney. He is also survived by many other relatives and friends.

Karl was the proprietor of Melling & Sons A/C and Heating, and was a restaurant manager and real estate agent for

many years. Prior to becoming ill, he enjoyed fishing, gardening, cooking, traveling, and following the stock market.

He loved his family, and his greatest joy was being with his grandchildren. His faith in God sustained him through

all of his trials. Karl was loved by everyone and will be greatly missed.

The family would like to thank everyone for their prayerful support, and special thanks to the doctors, nurses, and

staff of WJMC, WJMC Cancer Center, WJMC Radiation Center, the Family Doctors, Canon Hospice, CVS 8921, and all who provided excellent care.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial at St. Cletus Catholic Church, 3600 Claire Avenue,

Gretna, LA 70053, at 11:00am on Saturday, April 26, 2014. Rev. Tuan Pham, Celebrant. Visitation with the family at the church from 9:00am until Mass time. In lieu of flowers, Masses preferred.
